TORONTO, CANADA – APRIL 21, 2026 – Yondr Group, a leading developer, owner and operator of hyperscale data centers, has successfully energized its Toronto data center, marking an important step in the company’s presence in Canada. The 27MW facility is expected to be ready for service in mid-2026.
The 4.5-acre site represents Yondr’s formal entrance into the Canadian market, reinforcing the company’s continued expansion across North America and Europe. Designed to deliver reliable and resilient hyperscale capacity, the Toronto campus supports the region’s ambitions to become a world-leading destination for digital infrastructure and technology investment.
The site incorporates a closed loop cooling system to minimise water usage and has been designed in accordance with the Toronto Green Standard – ensuring responsible development aligned to Yondr’s environmental commitments and 2030 net zero target for scope 1 and 2 emissions. Additional features include electric vehicle charging, bike parking, bird-friendly glazing to prevent avian collisions, and landscaping using native and pollinator plant species.
As part of its long-term community investment strategy, Yondr has partnered with the University of Toronto to fund a scholarship programme supporting undergraduate students across Computer Science, Rotman Commerce, Life Sciences, and Mathematical & Physical Sciences. Successful applicants are eligible for an admission award of up to $5,000, aimed at supporting diversity and encouraging greater participation in STEM disciplines. To date, two students have been granted this award.
Yondr has also supported a range of local initiatives, including pre‑apprenticeship work placements and apprentice site tours, donations to local youth sports teams, and a tree planting event that will mark the upcoming Earth Day. These activities form part of Yondr’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community engagement, with further initiatives planned in the months ahead.
John Madden, Chief Data Center Officer, commented: “We’re proud to mark the energisation of our Toronto data center campus – a major milestone that moves us another step closer to delivering critical digital infrastructure for the region. Demand for capacity is accelerating at a pace we’ve never experienced before, driven by AI scale and a shift towards compute–led economies. Our Toronto campus forms a key part of Yondr’s strategy to deliver the next generation of sustainable, high-performance data center capacity across North America and beyond.”
Todd Sauer, VP Design & Construction Americas, said: “This campus has been designed with future demand and long-term environmental responsibility in mind – integrating innovative cooling efficiency, resilience, and local sustainability standards from the outset. Combined with our delivery model and rapid campus deployment approach, we’re unlocking speed, scale and certainty for customers as they plan the digital infrastructure of tomorrow.
“We’re committed to building not just capacity – but lasting value. From delivering hyperscale-ready infrastructure, to working with academic partners like the University of Toronto to invest in future talent pipelines – this project represents a significant commitment to the region and its long-term digital growth.”
