The role

You will act as a key Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA) technical lead in the strategic development of Engineering as a leading organisational business unit which as a Group also carries a Global function remit. Engineering is fundamental to the quality, delivery, evolution and operation of the product offering to our customers and requires innovation and driving force to ensure Yondr remains as market leaders. You will lead the Regional Civil and Structural Engineering function with strategic remit to meet the Yondr expansion targets. You will take an active participation as Statesman of Regional Engineering in terms of interfacing with other parts of the business and interface on a Global level with peers and in particular the other Engineering Regions to seek consistency, quality, and improvement. You will assist in the management of Regional budget, people, initiatives and business plans aligned with the expanding global Yondr portfolio.

Main responsibilities

  • Accountable for the Civil and Structural technical engineering discipline with a focus on the APAC Region and providing support to other Regions, as well as keeping consistency with Global blueprint and standards.
  • Working in partnership and managing our C&S Consulting Partners to produce and develop Blueprint designs and standards that position Yondr as a market leader in the Data Centre industry. 
  • To include the formulation of BoD/Masterplan strategies and managing the Consultant teams from concept design (RIBA stage 2 or equivalent) through to Employers Requirements design (Stage 3 or equivalent) then detailed design and beyond (RIBA stage 4/5 or equivalent ) and ensuring all designs are signed off in accordance with our global standards. 
  • Ensure that all C&S Blueprint designs conform to Global industry standards and these standards are incorporated into our Blueprint designs at Region specific level. 
  • Creation of BoD and strategic brief documents that inform both our Development and Capital Projects teams on how to proceed with due diligence on the C&S aspects in both land acquisition and DC delivery/construction activities.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality in design and execution.
  • Interface with internal discipline leads in implementing site-specific data centre design. 
  • Govern technical innovation of our products and design and in particular our push for DfMA in delivery, reduction in embodied carbon and increased biodiversity
  • Work with external customers to align Yondr's data site design with their specific requirements, while based on Yondr's standard design principles. 
  • Develop and maintain design approval/sign off processes from a business and technical team perspective.
  • Assist in the technical oversight of Yondr's new land strategy and land parcel development. 
  • Assist in the early test fit design, planning, site design and phasing.


Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural or Civil), Construction Management or a related field is desired. 
  • Preferably Chartered Member of IStructE or MICE.
  • Possess 10+ years’ experience in technically demanding developments and or the data centre market or critical environment market experience with full range of Civil and Structural design such as flood risk assessments, drainage, geo-env investigations, earthworks, roads, shallow and deep foundations and steel, concrete and masonry structural materials. 
  • Commercial acumen with an appreciation of impact of technically led decisions, and data centre costing, financing and schedule. 
  • Experience with site selection due diligence and master planning of large-scale mission critical/technical facility projects. 
  • Experience in construction, operations, and maintenance of large scale corporate/technology/industrial facilities. 
  • Experience in global and regional management within the design and construction program management processes. 
  • Experience in organisation and communication of technical details to all organisational levels. 
  • Leadership of internal teams, external consultants, and technical suppliers. 
  • Developing effective internal and external relationships across remote locations.
